An often underutilized font of knowledge is the map dealer, and it is gratifying to see more and more books by dealers becoming available. This book covers the confusing engravings in the various editions of Part I of Theodore de Bry’s Major Voyages. Mr. Faupel has combined information from various editions in major U.K. libraries to put together this useful bibliography of the engravings. There is a general introduction, followed by detailed descriptions of each of the engravings, including the title pages, White's Virginia map, the scenes of Indian life, and the 5 Pict engravings. Each engraving is illustrated.
