Title: Accurate Vorstellung der Orientalisch - Kayserliehen Haupt-und Residenz-Stadt Constantinopel Samt ihrer Gegend und zweven beruhmten Meer-Engen, Bosphoro Thrachio, und Hellesponto, oder dem freto der Dardanellen…
A lovely and well engraved map with Homann's bold coloring. A large inset features a bird's-eye view of the Bosphorus with several ships in the foreground, and a plan of Constantinople in the background. The decorative inset is framed with coats-of-arms, flags, shields and figures. The lower third of the map is a finely rendered bird's-eye panorama of Constantinople from the north, probably from the heights of Pera. A legend names and locates 30 important buildings, such as the Seraglio, Hagia Sophia, several mosques, etc. The Galata Tower is shown as is the entrance to the Golden Horn before any bridges were built. A very nice example of this lovely map.     (id:64700/111-589)
