Title: Constantinopel
One of the earliest available views of the city. Numerous mosques dominate the skyline and a large ship is in foreground. German text above and on verso (with several fine woodblock illustrations of the emperor Constantine and his descendants). Very good impression. Professional repair of centerfold with a bit of paper infilled and a few lines of facsimile. Minor surface soil in margins, overall a very good example of this scarce view.     (id:12082/93-300)
